Up to now, one of the most difficult patients to treat is the complete edentulous patient, with the lower denture being the most difficult of all to achieve a satisfactory result. The revolutionary concept of eliminating the problem of lower denture ‘floating’ and ‘lifting’ by creating an effective seal around the entire denture border through suction mechanism has been spreading worldwide. Dr. Jiro Abe, is a professor of Tohoku university and a founder of the Japan Denture Association, along with many other accolades. In 1999 after almost a decade of research he developed the suction mechanism whereby a complete seal is developed around the entire denture border through a specialised impression taking procedure and an extremely accurate measurement of the patients jaw position. This impression technique has been combined with the B.P.S Bionfuctional Prosthetic System (Ivoclar Vivadent), to create the most stable complete lower (mandibular) denture on the market today without the use of Implants.

A Suction Effective Mandibular Complete Denture, often referred to simply as a “suction denture,” is a type of complete lower denture designed to improve stability and retention in the lower jaw without relying on adhesives or dental implants. This type of denture is designed to create a suction seal between the denture and the natural tissues of the lower jaw, particularly the mucosal lining of the mouth. The goal is to enhance the denture’s stability, making it less likely to move or dislodge during everyday activities like eating and speaking.
